One of best ways to explore the charms of old Bangkok and its temples and palaces is the Chao Phraya Express Boat. The boat service is operated by the Chao Phraya Express Boat company and is used by approximately 40,000 communters every day.

Erawan Shrine

Erawan Shrine

The famous Erawan shrine of Lord Brahma in central Bangkok. The shrine is near the BTS Chitlom Station which has an elevated walkway overlooking the shrine.

Sky Train or BTS

The Sky Train is one of the most convenient ways of getting around Bangkok. The train runs on an elevated platform right on top of some of the busiest roads in the city. Work is under way on extending the BTS network, including a connection to the Airport.

Currently, the BTS network comprises of two lines -

North - East Line - From Mo Chit to On Nut station.

South - West Line - From Saphan Thaksin to National Stadium station.

Paurat or Bangkok's Little India

Bangkok's very own Little India. Paurat is where Bangkok's ethnic Indian community is based. This is the place to go for buying Indian clothes and groceries. It is also possible to buy the latest Indian movie DVDs. Paurat also has a large no of small and authentic Indian restaurants, like - Punjabi Sweets and Mama. The food here is cheap and delicious. My personal favourite is a cup of Indian Chai and a cricket match or an Indian movie at one of the small cafes in area.

The latest addition to Paurat is a shopping mall called the India Emporium.
