Chao Phraya Express Boat
One of best ways to explore the charms of old Bangkok and its temples and palaces is the Chao Phraya Express Boat. The boat service is operated by the Chao Phraya Express Boat company and is used by approximately 40,000 communters every day.
There are 38 piers/stops on the Chao Phraya route. The Sathorn pier is connected with the Saphan Thaksin BTS station.
The boats are distinguished from the color of the flag they are flying. The boats with the orange flag stop at every pier. A single journey ticket for the orange flag boat is 15 THB. The boats with the yellow flag stop at fewer piers and a single journey ticket costs 20 THB.
A one day tourist pass with unlimited rides is also available for 120 THB. You can get off at the pier of the your choice and hop on the next boat after exploring the buildings, restaurants and life around the pier.
A tourist boat service is also operated from 9.30 AM to 3 PM with departures from Sathorn pier every 30 minutes. The tourist boat also has a guide on board who tells the stories behind temples, palaces, hotels and other building along the route.
