Platinum Mall

Located next to Pantip Plaza in the Pratunam area. The mall is the place to buy cheap clothes, shoes and bags. The prices here are a lot cheaper than MBK. The mall is aimed at the army of tourists who come to Bangkok to shop for cheap clothes to sell them back home. Bargain hard before making a purchase. It is possible to get wholesale prices if you buy anything in a set of three.

Indian food is available at the Platinum Mall food court.

Getting There:

Nearest BTS Station:

Chidlom. The mall is around 10 minute walk from the BTS station.

Pantip Plaza

The place to go for buying laptops, computers and computer peripherals. It is also possible to buy bootleg software and movies. Make sure you shop around for prices as they can vary quite a lot among shops, especially for smaller items. Bargain hard before you make a purchase.

Getting There:

The mall is not directly connected to any BTS station. The nearest BTS stations are Chidlom and Ratchadewi. The mall is around 10-15 minute walk from either station. The motor cycle taxi ride from Ratchadewi station costs around 20 THB.

MBK

A large mall in Central Bangkok. MBK has been around for ages. Its a popular place to buy mobile phones and cheap clothes in Bangkok. The mall is dominated by small shops selling a variety of items - watches, perfumes, bags, shoes, electronics etc. Bargaining is very much the order of the day here. The mall is very popular with Indian tourists.

Indian food is available at the MBK food court.

Nearest BTS Station: National Stadium.

Central World Plaza

A very large mall in Central Bangkok. The new mall has emerged after the renovation of the Old Central world plaza and is easily one of the largest malls in Bangkok.

Among other things, it has the popular Zen department store. The seventh floor has the Central super market and a large number of restaurants catering to every taste bud.

An Indian restaurant called the Spicy Maharaja is located on the seventh floor. They offer a 299 THB lunch buffet.

Nearest BTS Station: Siam or Chidlom (Get off at either station and take the sky walk to Central World Plaza).

Emporium

An up market shopping mall in the mid Sukhumvit area. It used to be Bangkok's most posh mall before Siam Paragon and Central World Plaza came along. Popular with Japanese tourists and expats.

The food area on the 5th floor has an Indian food stand run by the Novotel Lotus hotel. They offer a 40% discount after 8 PM on weekdays.

Nearest BTS Station: Phrom Pong (The station is connected to the 3rd floor of the Mall)

Siam Paragon Shopping Mall

Siam Paragon is a major high end shopping mall in down town Bangkok. Besides the usual designer and luxury goods shops, it also features a Ferrari show room and an IMAX theatre.

Inside Siam Paragon, is Siam Ocean World which is the largest acquarium in Thailand.
